Plant Labels

Bespoke, Recycled Wooden Plant Labels.

TimberTags provides unique environmentally friendly wooden plant labels but can also provide other hand made wooden products in the UKMade from the waste of local woodworking firms, these plant labels take the seeming average product and turn into in a perfect gift. They work superbly for marking plants in a special garden, for example a child’s patch for growing vegetables or a couples’ first garden.
Unlike ugly plastic plant labels, these wooden ones will last longer, look better and will not be blown away in the wind.

Using specialist machinery, our tags can now be embossed with the text or image of your choice in the colour of your choice. Due to the printing method, individual plant names cannot be printed though a universal message such as ‘Love grows, planted 2008’ can be printed on the back of each label. If written on in a hard pencil, the plant name can be simply erased as if the wood were paper. An increasingly popular choice is giving printed plant labels as wedding favours or accompanying a small sapling.

Usually made of oak, these plant labels will take years of wind, ice and water without decaying.

‘My wife really loves the labels – she thinks they are fantastic and a really special present. She now has the pleasure of writing all of the plant names onto them!’

Wood

All wood used is sourced from the waste of local woodworking firms, ranging from guitar makers to joiners. Because of this, I am able to use a wide variety of timbers that I would otherwise not be able to. Common timbers that I have are oak, ash, birch and poplar but I occasionally come across more exotic timbers like rosewood, wenge, black walnut and imbuia. If there is a particular timber that you would like, feel free to contact me and I will endeavour to either source or buy it.

Different woods have different properties. For example oak is a very durable wood and perfect for plant labels, yet wears down type very quickly. Hence I prefer to use a less durable wood such as beach for wedding labels as it prolongs the life of my printing apparatus.
